This Friday, the management body of the Maresme Regional Council (CCM) was officially established, which will be governed by a coalition of ERC and JxCat, so that they will divide the mandate into two years with the presidency for the mayor of Palafolls, Francesc Alemay and the two remaining for the first mayor of Premià de Mar, Rafa Navarro. The pact between republicans and sovereignists has materialized today in the Cabot y Barba de Mataró civic center, with the prominent presence of the Minister of Business, Roger Torrent.
In the constitution session, the 33 councilors representing eight political groups voted for their candidates, Francesc Alemany being elected, with 17 votes from JxCat and ERC. The Socialists, the force with the most votes with nine councilors, are back in opposition after repeating the pact of the previous term.
The new president, Francesc Alemany, gave way to the speeches of the representatives of the eight formations that will make up the plenary session: PSC (9); Together (9); CKD (8); PP(2); Commons (2); cup(1); Ara Pacte Local (PDECat) with 1 representative and Vox (1). For his part, he announced that he will work "without prejudice" and that he will share the presidency with Rafa Navarro, although he qualified "it will be a single presidency and a single Regional Council."
In the investiture parliaments, Sílvia Garrido, mayor of Dosrius and spokesperson for the Socialists in the CCM announced that her party will exercise "a persistent opposition, without obstructions" with the commitment to be "a constructive alternative." At the same time and through social networks, David Bote, mayor of Mataró and president of the Socialist Regional Federation, wanted the Consell to "abandon the policy of fait accompli" and be able to reach consensus by announcing that the Mataró City Council will exercise "collaborative leadership" so that the Maresme has the recognition it deserves.
The JxCat candidate, Rafa Navarro, announced for the new term a policy in line with "the people of action" that make up his party and threw a dart to remember that "they are people of their word" in reference to the intention of the PSC to agree with ERC while he was negotiating with the sovereign party, which ultimately ended up preventing the pact between Junts and the PSC.
In the turn of interventions, Marta Plaset, councilor of Tordera, stressed the need to provide more services and better opportunities to municipalities from the Regional Council. Cristian Escribano, PP councilor in Mataró, highlighted that the pro-independence hegemony has ended in the region and claimed that "it should be noted that the government of the Consell is the same as that of the Generalitat".
The representative of the Comuns, Sebastian Tejada, listed the issues that must be prioritized in the new mandate without forgetting to avoid the privatization of the water service and the restructuring of the public-private company Resmar. Enric Zaldo, CUP councilor and representative of the Municipal Alternative Coalition, emphasized the presence of the Spanish flag in the plenary hall and "the photograph of the monarch". For his part, Jofre Serret, PDECat councilor in Malgrat, on behalf of Ara Pacte Local, regretted not having been part of the government, which he already formed in the last legislature and wished luck to the new executive. The sole representative of Vox, José Casado, criticized "the Frankenstein government" of two presidents and called for the simplification of the administration.
