Sumar warns that the PP will cause a recession if it reaches Moncloa

Sumar's candidate for central government presidency, Yolanda Díaz, warned on Saturday that her rival from the Popular Party, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, "will cause a recession in our country" if he governs after the July 23 elections. Up to three times he repeated the warning at his only campaign meeting in the Basque Country, in the Plaça de la Burrullería de Vitoria, in front of around 800 people; prove that he had a special interest in emphasizing this message.

Díaz stated that "who directs economic policy" in Feijóo is the former president of the central government, José María Aznar, who a few days ago recommended a return to austerity policies. She noted that "austerity is cuts" and, remembering the financial crisis of 2008 and its consequences, predicted that "if Feijóo governs it will cause a recession".

For Sumar's candidate, the leader of the PP "permanently lies" and, for this reason, he disdained her proposal to lower personal income tax on incomes of less than 40,000 euros because "the only thing his black-on-white program says is which will abolish the tax on great fortunes”. And, in this sense, he remembered that the promise of lower taxes almost brought the United Kingdom to ruin.

Díaz promised "a country where not everything goes through Madrid" and "where we can speak in other languages", as corresponds to his conception of a "plurinational" country. He also discussed the "narratives" of the right, now the message in which it is certain that it will win the elections, after those that predicted an economic disaster with unemployment, ERTEs and the increase in the minimum wage. Of course, in some cases he indicated that the PSOE also questioned it and said: "Remember this when you have doubts".

The leader of Sumar assured that she is not afraid of Feijóo; what's more, he interpreted that "he has it" in any case, since he went to the debate with his PSOE rival, Pedro Sánchez, but he doesn't want to go to the four-way debate. And focused on the industrial and energy issue due to being in the Basque Country, she insisted on the defense of industrializing the country but "changing the production model" due to the climate emergency.

Likewise, he conspired against the "energy oligopoly" and marked distances with the PSOE, because it is not enough for them to support renewables", but democracy is needed in the sector.
