Sumar interrupts the integration of the coalition parties in its leadership after IU's doubts

The storm unleashed in Izquierda Unida, the storm registered in Compromís and the incipient surge in Más Madrid have forced a change of course in Sumar to the point of paralyzing the integration of its coalition parties in the new national leadership.

In this way, the first meeting of the Coordination Group meeting led by Yolanda Díaz will be launched this Saturday only with the representatives of the parent party under the argument of giving more time to political organizations to join when they deem appropriate. That is, without a specific date.

This decision coincides with a moment of strong internal tensions fueled by the low vote projection that the polls give to Sumar for the European elections and which do not guarantee, by any means, that all the coalition forces will be able to obtain a European parliamentarian.

Despite everything, Sumar's spokesman in Congress, Íñigo Errejón, has tried to reduce friction by highlighting that collaboration between the different left is the way in a context of a "reactionary wave" where progressive forces have to "lend their shoulder." ". "I think we do better when we are able to cooperate. That is the path and that has to be the political horizon that presides over all discussions," he said at a press conference.

Regarding Izquierda Unida, the organization has decided to temporarily suspend its presence in the Sumar leadership until an in-depth debate is held on the type of relationship to maintain between both parties.

As far as Compromís is concerned, the mistrust that arose between both parties during the process of creating the European lists has amplified the critical voices from the Valencian formation with the roadmap set out by Díaz.

While in Más Madrid the unrest caused by the unilateral plan to implement Sumar in Madrid has not yet been quelled.

In this way, the meeting of the Coordination Group will be held only with the members directly elected by the Sumar bases in March, which represent 70% of the representatives of this body linked to the project led by Vice President Yolanda Díaz.

The other 30% is reserved, as agreed in its organizational presentation, for the organizations that decided to link organically with Sumar, such as the commons, Más Madrid, IU, Verdes Equo, the Contigo Navarra coalition and the Andalusian People's Initiative.

On the contrary, Compromís, the Aragonese Chunta, Drago Canarias or Més por Mallorca decided not to be part of the internal structure of Sumar and limit themselves to a collaboration of mere electoral alliance.
