Omnium numbers the beneficiaries of the amnesty at 1,432

"We are in an unprecedented scenario that offers an undoubted political opportunity, and we are convinced that we must take advantage of it." For Òmnium Cultural, the occasion is unparalleled to achieve amnesty and address self-determination once and for all.

In view of the parliamentary arithmetic, Xavier Antich, president of the entity, believes it is essential that ERC and Junts coordinate, especially in a first phase: that of the amnesty, which, "at least", should 'apply to 1,432 people.

So, Òmnium is the first to dare to put a figure: of the "4,400 reprisals" it counts, in its opinion, 1,432 should be included in the amnesty. This would involve 113 criminal convictions, 17 pending sentencing, 387 with open criminal proceedings, 880 administratively sanctioned and 35 pending before the Court of Auditors.

Among them, there would not be the former president of Parliament Laura Borràs, convicted of fraud and falsification of documents. In Òmnium they justify that, "without going into assessing either their management at the ILC, or whether they have had a fair trial", their cause is not related to the "exercise of fundamental rights, which is what the amnesty claims ". In any case, Antich said that they do not forget "the rest of the people retaliated against", for whom they demand a "fair reparation".

It's now or never, according to the entity. "We believe that a new opportunity has opened up, undoubtedly unprecedented. And this requires managing well the strength that the situation gives to the votes of pro-independence and pro-sovereign forces. In this battle of national aspiration, which we know is a long one, we need victories, and we can have them", said Antich in the traditional Omnium event for the Diada.

According to the leader of the entity, the political parties have the responsibility to politically channel "the great consensus of the citizens of Catalonia", which are expressed, in your opinion, with amnesty and self-determination. So far ERC and Junts are negotiating separately with the PSOE and Sumar. IAntich regrets it. He sees tactics: "It cannot be that tactical diversity makes it impossible to work together. The struggle to exercise the right to self-determination with international recognition and amnesty requires serious negotiation with the State, and the political parties must show us that they can negotiate in a coordinated way."

He summarized this extensive explanation in ten words in front of the president of the Generalitat, Pere Aragonès, the heads of ERC and Junts and representatives of the CUP: "This is not about being right, this is about winning".
