Most will vote no, or will not vote

In my last article I suggested that the president of the Spanish Government should be the candidate who obtained the most votes, as Felipe González has just proposed. Today I would like to reflect on what people think, when the elections are just days away. I talk to many different people every day and, with the exception of the Catalan nationalists, who have three parties to choose from, of the others, some tell me flatly that they will not vote for the PP because they do not want Vox to come to power in any way and others they assure that they will not vote for the PSOE because they cannot stand the post-communist ideology of Sumar or Podemos. Who will they vote for then?

If there was still the possibility to vote Citizens, surely some would be inclined to this option, but it is not possible. Will they vote for nationalist parties that would not agree with the extreme right or the extreme left? It's a possibility, but I don't think it's very realistic. From what I hear, I think that the majority will vote not to the extreme right, so they will give their votes to Pedro Sánchez, or not to the extreme left, so they will give them to Alberto Núñez Feijóo. It depends on which extreme displeases each voter the most. And honestly, I don't like the idea. I don't like the idea of people voting for someone not to win. I would love it more if we all voted for whoever we think should do better and that on July 23rd we went to cast our ballot with the hope of helping win who deserves it the most, not help lose who we don't like.

I, at least, will go to vote with this attitude and if the party I vote for has to compromise on what it would not like and I certainly would not like either, with the sole aim of being able to govern, surely I will not return to it never vote again, even if I have to abstain from now on. And what I fear is that many have already decided to abstain in order not to vote for either extreme. And who will this favor? We will know very soon, on the 23rd of this month.
