Mazón calls for unity in the defense of the interests of Valencia

Carlos Mazón made it clear yesterday in his institutional speech on October 9th, the day of the Valencian Community, that he will be "firm" in his claim to the Spanish Government to respond to Valencia's historic demands, such as the improvement of the regional financing, the increase in investments, the execution of strategic infrastructures such as the expansion of the port of Valencia or the Mediterranean corridor and the solution to the lack of water.

That is why he appealed to the "unity" and "consensus" of the Valencians in a goal in which he asked for "sense of State" for demands that must find "an adequate answer, not just any answer" for part of the Spanish Government.

In his speech, in which he alternated between Spanish and Valencian, Mazón stressed that the Community must "defend the signs of identity that are its own and not copy or be inspired by other territorial roadmaps that little or they are not at all similar to those fixed in the spirit and the letter of our Statute" in clear allusion, without saying it, to Catalonia. On this issue, he defended that "our language is Valencian" and stressed that "there are no owners of territorial plurality".

The civic procession of the Nou d'Octubre of the transfer of the lasenyera that subsequently took place in the center of Valencia passed without notable incidents, much more peaceful than other years. Thousands of police officers were tasked with managing security. The mayoress of Valencia was in charge of carrying the standard, which stopped at the cathedral of Valencia. There Archbishop Enrique Benavent made his speech entirely in Valencian. Later, also without incident, the floral offering was carried out at the statue of Jaume I in the Parterre de Valencia.

Also in the afternoon, the traditional nationalist demonstration called by Acció Cultural del País Valencian (ACPV) and other social groups was held in Valencia. The march took place without incident and with a strong police presence throughout the route. In this edition, the demonstration was called under the slogan "País Valencian anti-fascist" and passed through the center of the city. Among those who attended the demonstration was Oriol Junqueras, president of ERC.
