Álex García: "Decisions must be born from the heart"

The actor sits in the Café Vienès of the Casa Fuster hotel and makes himself available to the journalist. Álex García (La Laguna, Tenerife, 1981) speaks slowly, asks questions and even baffles the interviewer like a Zen master would with his student. When it is over, he withdraws for a few minutes to be in silence. He does it every day for himself, with more reason when he is on promotion. Alleviating not only the stress of a world spinning at breakneck speed, but the murmur of one's own mind, allows one to be happy. For this reason he went to live in the countryside with his partner, also the actress Verónica Echegui. He connected with himself and with the nature that created our species.

In Una vida no so simple (Félix Viscarret), the young architect he plays faces several inevitable crossroads in anyone's life: dreams of the future that have not yet materialized, the edges of friendship, ex that could have been, the frustration when seeing the calendar, the lack of perspective that comes with the ego... Isaías (Miki Esparbé) and Nico (Álex) see how a former colleague always moves forward, to his architects' studio, and takes the projects, the money and the glory.

Like his character, Álex has been able to keep a cool head: "I've been working since I was very young and from a very young age I could see the threads of the audiovisual world, with many traps and lies. Between having a down-to-earth family, good friends, and always being awake, I could see the lie that comes with this thing we call success. At the age of 15 or 16 I already liked to read interviews with established actors, and I saw that the ones I was most interested in or the ones I saw the happiest always had a very down-to-earth speech and that brought weight to the profession”. In any case, it is not ego or ambition that are the most complicated tests that his character has to face, but the value of friendship. Single fan of Tinder, looking to recover with others what he felt with his ex. To avoid spoilers, let's say that he knows how to advise others but not so much himself: "I think that Nico is wrong because he acts from euphoria, not from the heart. Any decision that does not come from your heart will be wrong."

Álex explains that he found the path from the heart to silence, devoting time to himself every day: “Something I didn't do for a large part of my life. I dedicated my time to produce, to generate, but not to me. Not to listen to what I like, what I feel. This is not the time to get a massage or buy something that will give you immediate pleasure; this is a lie, patches we put on. I see it when I stop and be quiet or have a conversation that helps me grow. I would recommend everyone to get away from reading negative news and allow yourself to be okay. Avoid entering into this constant fear that many people suffer when taking the car, having an illness, being fired, a... Living in fear is terrible. We need to stop the mental noise that we have become accustomed to in our day-to-day life: if you and I go to spend a day in nature now, probably when the day is over you will tell me that you felt calm and happy And the fact is that the human being comes from here, we were not born between four walls, not even cerebral ones. Contemplating nature and enjoying it in silence is a natural human thing that we have become accustomed to losing."

If his relationship with Verónica Echegui is safe from paparazzi and gossip, it is partly due to this philosophy of life. You won't see them in many photo shoots or sunbathing in Ibiza: "It's about listening to you and prioritizing you. For example, for a long time I did interviews or photo shoots that I didn't like, I went to shows where I didn't know why I was going there... Until a moment comes when you know that the important thing is to feel- be comfortable And if that entails consequences, I will accept them. But I want to be happy."

Thanks to these silences, he became aware that he was accompanied by a guardian angel. Like former minister Jorge Fernández Díaz, who revealed it to this newspaper. His also has a name, but he keeps it to himself. The good news is that we all have one of our own.
