'Isekai: Story of a Kidnapping', a real and virtual kidnapping at the same time

After fifteen years in exile in Barcelona and almost never leaving the room, Olivia returns to Venezuela to attend the wedding of two of her childhood friends. But when they meet, they are victims of a kidnapping with terrible consequences... Olivia is a bit ikokomori, the young people who live isolated in their room, but following the kidnapping she is reincarnated as a samurai magical girl in the virtual-fantasy world from a video game.

Loredana Volpe signs the authorship of Isekai: History of a kidnapping, produced by the company La Salamandra and Tantarantana as a creation factory, of the El Cicló creation support project. The piece explores the real and virtual dimension in which some people live today. The dream is no longer the only escape route, but video games have become a parallel world, where there are those who immerse themselves in it to bear the weight of real life.

In the Átic 22 room of the Tantarantana theater in Barcelona, the show uses immersive technologies where the audience will be surrounded by three screens that recreate the virtual reality of a video game of the isekai genre, the Japanese word that means "another dimension" , so that the public will be able to take a journey between worlds together with the characters and their avatars in another reality, to regain the will to live.

Isekai: History of a kidnapping is performed by Vanessa Castro, Marc Pujol, Chap Rodríguez Rosell, and is the winning project of the BCN Crea 2023 Grant. It is presented at the Tantarantana theater, from January 11 to February 11 of 2024.
