Feijóo urges Sánchez not to make "demagogy" with the fires

A week after the forest fires that ravaged Asturias, the leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, visited the affected areas and took the opportunity to demand that Pedro Sánchez not engage in "politics" or "demagogy" with these tragic events. Feijóo denounced that the president of the Executive uses a double standard when the catastrophe takes place in communities governed by the PSOE or the PP.

In this sense, he reproached Sánchez that when he visits an autonomy governed by the people, he assures "that the problem is negligence and the lack of means, and he holds the president of the PP responsible for what has happened. After going to a socialist community, he declares that the fires are the result of climate change and arsonists".

For this reason, the president of the PP demanded from the head of the Executive "respect for the territories and the intelligence of the citizens", because "it is not reasonable for a president to make differences between the political color of the place where the fires take place ".

Although he did not say so, Feijóo was referring to statements by Sánchez on the occasion of a large fire in Castilla y León, when the president put the Executive of Castilla y León as an example of mismanagement regarding fires , to attack the PP-Vox pact, while in the Valencian Community and Asturias he spoke about the consequences of climate change and human activity.

Feijóo asked Sánchez for unity, and for that he demanded that the sectoral commission be convened that brings together all the regional councilors and the central government to face the summer campaign. The PP will also request the appearance of the Minister of Ecological Transition, so that she can explain the means available to the State and the budget it has.

The president of the PP also referred to the presentation of the Sumar platform by Yolanda Díaz, which in his opinion means that "the coalition government has ceased to be a government" to become "a grouping of political interests and supporters". And for Feijóo, when in an executive there are two people who want to be presidents, that's when it ceases to be a Government".

According to the leader of the opposition, the Central Executive has ceased to be a two-party system, and is now "made up of the PSOE, Podemos and Sumar, which, at the time, brings together 15 parties". Against this, Feijóo proposes "making a government with a president who has a party and a parliamentary group with which laws can be approved", and that there is no need to negotiate prison policy with "the territorial organization" to approve budgets.
