Feijóo admits that there were contacts between PP and Junts for the investiture

The PP exchanged messages with Junts and was probed by Carles Puigdemont's training on how far it could go to invest Alberto Núñez Feijóo. There was no official interlocutor in either Junts or the PP and the informal talks took place before Carles Puigdemont's conference. The PP said no to Junts' claims when the ex-president's demands became known.

The contacts were carried out at the request of Junts, according to popular sources, who indicate that from the post-convergent formation they were told that they preferred a PP government to the PSOE one. The PP "just listened", assured Feijóo to Telecinco yesterday, and "once we knew their conditions explicitly, not through messages or comments, but solemnly, at Puigdemont's press conference, the PP said no".

Feijóo had already revealed these contacts, in which they were offered the presidency of the government in exchange for which the PSOE accepted to elect Francina Armengol, who spoke in the co-official languages in Congress. Then he learned the conditions that the former president of the Generalitat set for the investiture: "Amnesty before the investiture, declaration of independence and unilateral relationship", and the president of the PP did not accept them because, he said, " we prefer to go to the opposition than to accept unacceptable conditions in a State of law and for the dignity of Spain".

The popular leader tries to maintain discretion about the people who took the lead in the contacts and wants them to remain anonymous, despite the fact that both the state leadership of the PP and the PP of Catalonia know what the routes were. Feijóo yesterday gave some hint, that it was not an interlocutor, but some, that exchanged messages and comments. Sources consulted by La Vanguardia assured that the main contacts took place between PP and Junts councilors at Barcelona City Council, where the Junts delegation is headed by Xavier Trias, and the PP by Daniel Sirera, a trusted person from Feijóo. The decision of the PP to leave Trias without the mayorship led to the election of the socialist Jaume Collboni as mayor.

Feijóo said yesterday that PP and Junts politicians regularly meet in different forums, town halls, parliaments, and hold conversations or exchange opinions on issues that interest them both. Logical contacts, he believes, when the PP has won the elections and has the task of obtaining an investiture, and that's why "we talked". In Junts, he affirmed, we have told them that we will not accept their conditions, because, "in addition to being illegal, they are unworthy, morally and ethically reprehensible".

In fact, Feijóo is clear that, if he accepts what Sánchez "seems to be ready to accept", the president would be him, "Sánchez has the possibility of being president". And he insists: "I'm not interested in being president like that", because "I would be deceiving my electorate, I would violate the electoral program and I would call into question the rule of law when judging in accordance with the law those responsible for the process, and I would fill 'indignity Spain'.

Meanwhile, the PP continues the offensive. In addition to the motions that he will present in parliaments and town halls, Feijóo has activated the Senate to convene the general commission of the Autonomous Communities so that the regional presidents can pronounce on equality between Spaniards and the unilateralism that the pro-independence parties want.
