Expenditure on social services, health and education increases and decreases on finances and the environment

The budgets of the Generalitat Valenciana for 2024 allocate greater spending to health, education and social services. The increase in health spending is 3% and means, as explained this afternoon by the spokesperson councilor Ruth Merino, that the real spending in this area is equivalent to 37% of the Valencian budget. "We have managed to do more with less; although the most important figure is execution," explained Merino.

The Consell chaired by Carlos Mazón foresees a health expenditure of 8,054,180.13 million euros and focuses on promoting Primary Care, with 730 million euros and a general direction created specifically, or an increase of 20 million of euros of mental health policies.

Another item that increases is Education, 1.2% more than in the previous year, which this year goes hand in hand with Universities and Employment, previously in other areas. The Consell plans to spend 6,871 million euros and in its proposal it points out that education concerts increase by 4.9%; resources allocated to teacher training 11% and funds for educational inclusion 10%.

Another of the items that Councilor Merino has highlighted as significant is that of Social Services, Equality and Housing, which increases its spending by 0.9% compared to the previous budget with a global budget of 2,811 million euros. The allocation for Primary Care and Dependency grows by 13.6% and the Valencian Inclusion Income is maintained, with an increase of 0.6%, up to 288 million euros

In the document, the Consell maintains the promotion of Valencian and increases spending on the Valencian Language Academy by 6.1%, in addition to adding 19.5 million euros to the promotion of multilingualism in classrooms. The Budget foresees an investment identical to the previous document, of 102 million euros, although it foresees an increase in spending on personnel and its current operations.

Regarding the departments that register drops in income, three stand out: Environment, Water, Infrastructure and Territory, which reduces spending by 33.9%; Innovation, Industry, Commerce and Tourism, 15.6% and Treasury, Economy and Public Administration, where spending fell 14.8%.
