Commonwealth Day sense Elisabet II

Yesterday was an important day for the British royal family who commemorated their first Commonwealth Day without the presence of Elizabeth II. King Charles III and his wife Camilla led the representation of the Windsors in a religious ceremony held in Westminster Abbey marked by a day with strong winds that did not make things easier for the guests.

The organization, which brings together 54 countries, most of which are former British colonies, is an association "not only of common values, but of common purpose and joint action", as Charles III emphasized in his first speech at the head of the 'organisation, and in which he underlined the important role of the Commonwealth in addressing "the most pressing problems of our time".

"Whether in climate change and biodiversity loss, education, health or economic cooperation, the Commonwealth can play an indispensable role in addressing the most pressing issues of our time," said Charles III during the ceremony religious

The monarch was greeted by anti-monarchist demonstrators, who carried signs saying "No és el meu rei" in black letters on a yellow background in front of the abbey, the same building where Charles will be crowned on May 6.

Charles III and his wife, Camilla, were the first to arrive at Westminster Abbey where they were received by the ecclesiastical authorities.

The Princes of Wales, William and Catherine, were also other protagonists of the day. They arrived at the religious temple lavishing complicity after the latest information that pointed to an alleged new infidelity of Elizabeth II's grandson. The Princess was one of the most stylish attendees in a two-piece suit of navy blue skirt and trousers with small embroidered flowers in white by the Canadian firm Erdem.

Prince Edward and his wife, Sofia, also did not miss this important date and both made their entrance smiling big and already turned into the brand new Dukes of Edinburgh. A title that King Charles III bestowed on his younger brother on Friday, March 10, on his 59th birthday. This was the first commemoration of the Commonwealth since Henry and Meghan called it “Empire 2.0” in their Netflix documentary. The organization was founded in December 1931 and currently comprises 54 countries.
