Barcelona says "yes, I want it"

After 080 Barcelona Fashion last week, the Catalan capital is now saying "yes, I want it" and bridal fashion is taking over with the celebration of Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week from today until Sunday.

In total there will be four days of parades (from April 17 to 20), in which 37 firms will present their collections for 2025, and three days of salons or trade shows (from April 19 to 21), with almost 400 brands that will show customers what's new. According to Albasari Caro, director of Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week, this year has broken a record for internationality, as 80% of the participating firms are foreign.

Both the parades and the salon will be held in Palau 1 of the Montjuïc site of the Fira de Barcelona. There will be only two exceptions: the Atelier Pronovias parade, with which it will celebrate its 60th anniversary, which will be on Friday night at the National Museum of Art of Catalonia (MNAC) in the Palau Nacional. And the parade of Giambattista Valli, protagonist of the Bridal Night, tomorrow, in the Llotja de Mar building.

As it is a professional fair and, therefore, not open to the general public, this year, as a novelty, they wanted to open the Bridal in the city with an artistic installation made by La Fura dels Baus and which will occupy the side of Avinguda Maria Cristina, in Montjuïc, every day of the contest.

Barcelona goes Bridal! , which is the title of the installation, is a large-scale reproduction that will represent the cycle of the bridal fashion industry, as described by Pep Gatell, the artistic director of La Fura. In a spectacular rotating hanger (similar to that of industrial dry cleaners) 100 meters long and six high, you can see around 40 daily dresses from Catalan brands, such as Pronovias, Jesús Peiró, YolanCris, Novia d'Art , Mariano Moreno and Olga Macià. The idea is to support and spread the work of Catalan brands, and also for it to spread on social networks, stated Albasari Caro on the day of the presentation, adding that they also hope "that it will be an attraction for Instagram with the wedding dresses circling and, in the background, the National Palace".

Another of the novelties – and not without controversy – of this year's edition of Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week is the advertising poster, which shows a black model wearing a wedding dress made of handbags. Neither the woman nor the dress exist, as the image has been created with artificial intelligence.

The footbridge will be inaugurated this afternoon by the firm Jesús Peiró. Then Sophie et Voilá, Serina Bridal, Isabel Sanchis, Yolancris, Joli Poli and The Atelier by Prof will parade. Jimmy Choo, will close the day. The second edition of Barcelona Bridal will be held on Saturday

The four days of the parade will be a showcase to learn about bridal trends, party dresses and accessories for 2025. In addition, however, Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week is a good business opportunity, especially for the Catalan capital, since , according to the director, the contest leaves a profit of 61.5 million euros. Italy, the United States, the United Kingdom, Korea, Japan and China are the countries that sell and buy the most at Bridal. And this year a new conquest has been proposed: Australia.
