An Arabic teacher in Madrid recruited students as potential jihadists

New police operation against jihadist terrorism a. And, once again, minors – a highly vulnerable sector – are once again the most valuable target for terrorist postulates. This time it was the Civil Guard that arrested an Arabic teacher in Madrid who was taking advantage of his status as a teacher to radicalize the young people he taught and recruit potential candidates for the Islamic State.

This is a 44-year-old man of Moroccan origin, but who had been based in Spain for a long time. In Villaverde, one of the districts in the south of Madrid, he had served as imam of the mosque, until he was expelled for his radical speech, denounced precisely by the Muslim community itself, according to sources in the investigation.

The investigations began last year, when it was detected that the now arrested man was indoctrinating minors at the Villaverde mosque. These activities, according to the agents, did not go unnoticed in the community where they took place, and generated a conflict that caused the suspect to be forced to leave the mosque and continue in more private environments.

It was then that he found in the Kefeia Arabic classes in a local in the same Madrid district the way to be able to continue spreading the most violent vision of the religion. In a bass, he praises among the students the figure of the suicide terrorist as a legitimate figure in the fight against Jews, Christians and apostates.

The theories disseminated by the teacher were exposed in the classes that the detainee gave to minors as an example of "the conduct to be followed by all Muslims".

According to the same sources, the most peculiar thing about this anti-terrorist operation is that the detainee allegedly spread jihadist postulates physically, out loud; although he sometimes used audiovisual material with harsh images.

The tendency, as can be seen from the operations that have been carried out in recent years, is for jihadist propaganda to be disseminated through social networks to try to attract a higher number of followers.

The police operation for his arrest was carried out by the information service of the Civil Guard, in coordination with the central investigation court number 2 of the National Court, which decreed the provisional prison for the detainee. In the police action, two searches have been carried out in which computer elements have been confiscated which will now be analyzed to be able to contribute them to the investigation.
