The mayoress of Barcelona, Ada Colau, has once again been on everyone's lips this Wednesday. This time as a result of a viral video on TikTok with the influencer Rustem Iqbal, a Pakistani businessman who owns the Pim Pam supermarket, located in the Dreta de l'Eixample neighborhood, and who has more than 705,000 followers on the social network. .
In the video it is simulated that Colau is going to buy at Rustem's establishment, who notices the presence of the mayoress when she charges him. After recognizing her, Iqbal explains that on the occasion of the end of Ramadan -April 21- they will have a party. "Happy Ramadan to all the Muslim residents of Barcelona. Rustem received a message from the mayor's team on March 15 asking him to record a video with her. "I did not hesitate for a second. Of course I want to make a video with the mayoress, it made me very excited," he commented in statements to El País.
A short time later, Ada Colau uploaded a video to her TikTok account interviewing the Pakistani influencer to learn a little more about her life in the Catalan capital.
Many Twitter users have criticized the mayor, considering this video a strategy to win votes from the Muslim community ahead of the municipal elections on May 28.
