The Mallorcan tiktoker Naim Darrechi has been arrested in Mexico for drug use and disturbance of public order. The young man was arrested in Boca del Río, in Veracruz, where he was on the street consuming marijuana along with other young people, who were also arrested. The consumption of marijuana in public is prohibited, despite the fact that Mexican law allows possession of up to five grams of this drug.
Darrechi spent the night of April 12 in jail and was released the next day. It was then that both he and Darrechi's partner, Yeri MUA, who is also a well-known tiktoker, reported the arrest through social media. Darrechi had traveled to Mexico a few months before having to appear in a Palma court accused of assaulting a police officer.
The young man had been arrested in Palma and was sentenced to six months in prison for confronting a policeman during the eviction of a bottle that was taking place in the midst of a pandemic in a square in the center of Palma. Darrechi confronted the officers trying to arrest him while he encouraged other youths to take on the police.
At the time the trial was to take place, the young man fled and did not appear before the judge, but days later he did so by videoconference from Mexico. Before his escape, he had recorded a video accompanied by a friend at an airport in which he already hinted that he had no intention of appearing before Justice.
The tiktoker has also been the protagonist of another wide controversy when he assured that he deceived women to be able to have sex without a condom. These statements earned him complaints from the Institut de la Dona and the Ministry of Equality, which were unsuccessful, although the tiktoker was forced to apologize.
Darrechi has more than 30 million followers between Tik Tok and Instagram. The young Mallorcan is widely known on social networks, which brings him enormous economic income. He has signed the authorship of several books, although he himself has acknowledged that they are written through the WhatsApp audios that he sent to his publisher.
