The price of electricity will rise by 20% tomorrow, up to 108.7 euros/MWh

The price of electricity will rise tomorrow, Wednesday, by 20%, to 108.7 euros per megawatt hour (MWh), according to the results of the auction held today in the wholesale market.

With this rise, the light will be for the fifth time so far in April above the level of 100 euros.

Likewise, the cap on gas will continue to not be applied due to the fact that the price of this raw material on the Iberian Gas Market (Mibgas) remains below the limit of 56.1 euros/MWh set by the Government for this month.

So far this year, the price of electricity has stood at 90.7 euros/MWh on average, less than half the 220.2 euros/MWh registered during the same period of the previous year, when energy markets were already beginning to feel the effects of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

By time slots, electricity will reach its highest price tomorrow between 9:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m., with 146 euros/MWh; and the lowest between 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m., when it will be 79.5 euros/MWh.

Light will be 61% cheaper than a year ago, when its price reached 234 euros/MWh, and will be at lower levels than those registered in neighboring countries.

Thus, in Germany, the average price will be 110.7 euros/MWh; in France, of 118 euros/MWh; in Italy, of 120.4 euros/MWh; and in the United Kingdom, of 112.2 pounds/MWh (about 127 euros/MWh at the current exchange rate. EFE
