Health alert due to the presence of sildenafil in a food supplement from Amazon

The Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (Aesan) has activated an alert for the presence of sildenafil in a ginger-based food supplement from Romania and distributed by Amazon.

This is the POPS product (Perfect Pure Natural), sold in a cardboard container with a blister of four capsules and weighing 4 grams, at room temperature.

The active substance not declared on the labeling of these food supplements may have pharmacological effects and pose health risks to people who consume them, the agency has warned.

According to the information available, the initial distribution has been through e-commerce, on Amazon, although it cannot be ruled out that there may be sales through other means.

The alert has come through a notification sent by the health authorities of Catalonia; has been transferred to the competent authorities of the autonomous communities through Sciri, in order to verify the withdrawal of the affected products from the marketing channels.

Aesan has recommended that people who have the product affected by this alert at home refrain from consuming them.
