The voice of the great Aretha Franklin sounds again in Boliche theaters

Lovers of the unforgettable Aretha Franklin have an unmissable date today at the Boliche cinemas in Barcelona. At 7:45 p.m. the documentary Amazing Grace (2018) will be screened, directed by Alan Elliott and Sydney Pollack with the live intervention of a great gospel choir with Messengers and Esclat Gospel Singers. The film can be seen within the programming of the third edition of the One Heart International Gospel Festival.

In January 1972, Aretha Franklin performed for two days giving a gospel concert at the New Temple Missionary Baptist Church in Watts, Los Angeles, recording what would become her best-selling album, Amazing Grace.

The sessions were filmed by a film crew led by director Sydney Pollack, but the footage ended up in a vault and has been one of the lost film treasures of 20th century music for 4 decades. Before Pollack's death in 2008, the director expressed his desire to see the film completed, and producer Alan Elliott approached him with a team of people passionate about the project.

The projection of the documentary in this edition of the festival has the enormous incentive of having the choirs of Messenger and Esclat Gospel Singers, who will join their voices to the songs performed in the film in a unique and unrepeatable evening.
