Sidecar celebrates its 40th anniversary with 40 hours of uninterrupted activities

Survivor in top form of the Barcelona music scene, the Sidecar room is preparing to celebrate its 40 years of history with a program of activities that begins this Friday and will continue for 40 hours of non-stop activities of all kinds, from concerts to talks, to dress up this veteran reference of the Plaza Reial for a party.

The festivities will start this noon (2 pm) with the official inauguration, where the presence of the mayoress and the president of the Generalitat is expected, to then give way to the

exhibition of the underground comic illustrator Cristina Daura, who has worked for publications such as The New York Times, The New Yorker and El País. Next will come the talk "Where do we come from?", with the leaders of Sopa de Cabra and Love of Lesbian, Gerard Quitana and Santi Balmes, together with the band The New Raemon. The music will be provided by the young Mushkaa, one of the artists with the most potential on the Catalan scene, followed by DJs Cutmaker, Clara Rigby, Albertcode and Carole.

Saturday will begin with a musical breakfast by the duo Gabriela

The party will extend to Plaza Reial with a rock show for children and a hot chocolate, as well as the talk "Where are we going?" with the female voices of Alizz, Mushkaa and Yago. A day that will conclude with the concert of the Valencian quartet La Habitación Roja, which finally opens in the Barcelona room, and the work of the djs Donovan, Clara Rigby, Monraker and NachoRuiz until the umpteenth dawn of the Sidecar ends.

Throughout its history linked to the Barcelona nightlife, the venue has hosted concerts by budding artists as well as stars eager to return to the atmosphere of small venues. Among them we can count Pete Doherty, New York Dolls, Catarres, Manu Chao, Sidonie, Total Sinister, Els Pets, Albert Pla, Pau Riba, Macaco or M-Clan, among others.
