Manel's record company will release the new Ludwig Band album

A month ago the Manel group announced its "indefinite" hiatus after 15 years, a fact that marked a before and after within the Catalan music scene. The group has returned to the world of music through their personal label, Ceràmiques Guzmán, with which they will release an album by another band for the first time. It is about the Ludwig Band sextet and their new album Thank you for coming. "A band appeared that wrote a kind of songs that we like and they played very well, and they gave off a spirit that we loved. One fine day we met them and it turned out that they were also nice," the record company tweeted.

The release of the album, the third of the Empordà formation, will be in autumn, and it will be co-published with The Indian Runners, the label that has accompanied the Ludwig Band since its origins. "We are very excited to make a place for them in the dining room at home, it will be an honor to put their next album next to ours in the Ceràmiques Guzmán catalogue," the Manel record company tweeted.

Quim Carandell, Andreu Galofré, Gabriel Bosch, Lluc Valverde, Pau Lanzetta and Roger Cassola make up the Ludwig Band sextet, considered Espolla's second best group, not only for its unmistakable "pedantic folk" style - translated as a mix of pop and folk -, but also for its characteristic lyrics about everyday life, instrumentalized with delicate harmonies that characterize the group.

His new work, Thank you for coming, created in just over a year, talks about the friendship, work, and love of the group's singer and lyricist, Quim Carandell, adorned with his musical arrangements that enhance his choral spirit. An album in which they also reveal their musical references such as Bob Dylan, Pau Riba, Jaume Sisa or even ABBA.

Before the album is released, the group will present their new songs at the (a)phònica festival in Banyoles (July 1), the Grec Festival (July 18), and they will finish at Tingladu in Vilanova and Geltrú .

Ludwig Band was born in 2017 as a result of the songs that Carandell accumulated during his adolescence. With a start of rehearsals in the old barracks of the Civil Guard in Espolla, the group released a year later La Ludwig Band, their first self-published EP, which would give way to their two next albums: Al limita de la tonalitat (The Indian Runners, 2020), an album conceived from the most classic pop-rock to the most local folk, and The Same Sort (The Indian Runners, 2021), with which they won the Enderrok Critics' Award for best album of the year, and the Cerverí Award a la mejor letra en catalan por su canción The oldest man in Espolla has died.
