Llàgrimes del Canigó oils are a benchmark for quality and flavor in the Alt Empordà. This family company from Agullana (Girona) has been producing extra virgin olive oils of the Argudell variety since 2020, flavored with plants native to the area.

Among its most successful products are the spicy argudell olive oil with chilli, garlic and peppers, and the olive oil infused with basil, ideal to accompany pasta dishes, pizza or salads. The latter has been one of the novelties most requested by its customers, who appreciate the fresh and aromatic touch it brings to their recipes.

Another recent novelty is Via Domitia oil, a premium extra virgin olive oil that pays homage to the oil that has been produced in Agullana for more than 20 years. This oil is distinguished by its annual label, which changes each harvest to reflect the beauty of the Empordà landscape. For the 2023 harvest, they have chosen a work by the artist Xavier Gonzàlez Arnau, who shows art with strength and determination in an environment that is usually hostile.

What will be the same every year is the inside of the bottle. This high-quality oil (composed of a blend of Argudell and Picual) has a good balance on the palate, between sweet, spicy and bitter. It is rich in secondary aromas, both green and ripe, with a very nutty finish.

Its careful preparation goes through absolute rest in a vat, which makes it take on a resplendent color. In addition, its production is numbered and limited to a maximum of 2,000 bottles per vintage.

Llàgrimes del Canigó is the most personal project of two entrepreneurs based in the Alt Empordà who have dedicated these last years to the care and maintenance of the olive trees, the olive harvest and the extraction of Argudell olive oil (a native variety of the area from the Alt Empordà, highly prized for its elegance and finesse).

Its specialty is olive oil infused with native plants and spices, delicately treated to achieve unique recipes: oil with Chili Pepper, garlic and pepper, to give the dish a spicy and tasty touch; with Thyme, to enjoy an intense flavor with just one drop; with Boletus, which evokes the arrival of autumn and the presence of the most delicious mushrooms; that of Black Truffle, to give a fragrant and aromatic touch to any dish; with Lemon and Fennel, to flavor fish dishes; and with Orange and cinnamon, ideal to replace butter in pastry recipes. Located in the town of Agullana, they work with the Argudell and Picual varieties, with which they produce their precious extra virgin olive oil.
