Are cocoa nibs for daily consumption? What properties do they have? (Anonymous)

Cocoa nibs are small pieces of cocoa beans that are roasted and result in a very crunchy chunk.

Since these are pure cocoa nibs and not chocolate, they have no added sugar or other additional ingredients. That makes them a good complement or a very popular topping in healthy recipes that seek to include a food that has a crunchy touch, they are widely used, for example, in ice creams or in different porridges.

In addition to the absence of sugar, we have to highlight its properties that include a large number of antioxidants and polyphenols, they are a healthy food that can be consumed daily if we want.

The only observation I would make is that we should pay attention to its methylxanthine content, chocolate is ultimately a stimulating product and although it does not have a concentration as high as that of coffee, it is important to take it into account for sensitive people or children.

Good morning, Aitor. Sometimes I don't have time to prepare dinner and I resort to a simple bowl of oatmeal. But the other day I was thinking, what if it's not good to have only oatmeal for dinner? Maybe it has an inflammatory effect? I don't know, I hope you can help me. Thank you very much (Ana Guerrero, reader)

Hello Ana,

There is no problem taking a bowl of oatmeal or a porridge as a recipe, but it is true that taken for dinner they are not the most complete option, and this has nothing to do with the subject of taking hydrates at night.

In our culture we are used to considering both lunch and dinner as the main meals, nothing happens if dinner is light, but we must bear in mind that it is one of the few moments throughout the day where we usually include a source of proteins and also our portion of vegetables.

If your dinner is limited to just one bowl of oatmeal, you are only including the carbohydrate part, which is not only the least important part of the diet, but also most likely you will have included more of this family of foods over time. throughout the day.

On the contrary, it is much less likely that vegetables or protein sources have been incorporated between meals to complete the diet and make it much more convenient.

In short, I would invite you to complete that bowl of oatmeal with other ingredients (you can try taking it in a salty format where oatmeal also gives very good results), and also to reduce the frequency with which you take it to give space to those others foods that are important to be present at dinner.
