All the gadgets you need to walk your pet

The walk is probably your dog's favorite time of the day. Contrary to what many believe, it is not an expedition with the sole objective of relieving themselves away from home. The truth is that this journey helps him do physical exercise, explore through his eyes and his prodigious sense of smell, sniffing everything that is in his path.

He also interacts with other dogs of his species and is a quality moment between you and your furry best friend. It will be an even more positive experience if you vary the routes to teach your dog new places. As well as if you include stops in large and quiet areas where you can run and play, such as parks or a nature area. If you want the walk with your dog to be perfect, review the list of all the gadgets you need.

We start with the most basic element, the restraint of your pet. Choosing a collar or harness is a decision of taste but, as a general rule, the harness is the most advisable. It is perfect for maintaining complete control of the animal's movements, avoiding jerks that cause injuries to an area as sensitive as the neck. In addition, it is more complicated for the dog himself to be able to pull it off.

Dogs are not born learning to walk on a leash, but you must get used to it and teach it from when it is a puppy. Although many prefer short leashes to keep the dog close under control, a long leash gives him more freedom of movement and scope to explore what interests him. However, with long leashes you must be even more vigilant to prevent it from running into dangers such as throwing itself onto the road.

While the microchip to identify your dog is mandatory, the identification tag is optional. But highly recommended, since it makes it considerably easier for your dog to escape and someone finds it, so that they can contact you quickly. You can even put a GPS tracking device on it if your pet has a tendency to sneak away or you are especially worried about losing it.

Treats are essential to reward your dog's good behavior, apply positive reinforcement in his education and training, and attract him if he escapes. As for water, it is especially necessary on hot days. In the market you will find different containers and portable drinkers for pets.

Do not forget to always carry several bags with you to collect your dog's droppings and throw them into a bin or container. It is also appropriate to carry a bottle with water and vinegar to apply to the urine and thus clean it and remove the bad smell on public roads. In fact, this is mandatory in some cities.

Finally, if your walk is going to include a stop in an area suitable for playing with your dog, take toys with which to entertain it. Some never-failing options are balls, a frisbee, or rope toys to wrestle with.
