Tenerife is witnessing an unfair phenomenon in the island's hospitality. For several weeks, restaurants in the area have observed a series of crimes carried out by the same couple. According to the media, it would be a family that after enjoying a great meal, leaves the restaurant without paying.
Two weeks ago it was the turn of Mesón de Antonio, a restaurant in San Isidro, Granadilla de Abona. Antonio, owner of the establishment, describes the couple as a tall, thin man, with a peninsular accent, and a blonde woman, accompanied by a girl of about four years.
As the innkeeper has revealed, the family was served at lunchtime, where they came to order a huge amount of food: croquettes, beef T-bone steak, breaded breast, garlic prawns and fish, among others. An unusual amount considering that it was a couple and a little girl.
They thus left a bill of 141.90 euros, which they refused to pay. According to Antonio, after ordering the second drink for both of them, the waiter who was taking their orders, could not find them in the restaurant: "they already had the car lined up to leave with the lady and the girl inside when they ordered the drinks" reveals the owner .
It is not the first sympa that Tenerife suffers this summer. Last Monday, the Rincón Parrandero, experienced a similar situation: a couple with a small girl and an unpaid bill. Likewise, the Rincón de Chasna denounced this crime last week. The restaurant received a couple with a little girl to eat, adding a bill of 100 euros: "They ordered bottles of wine, ribeye, ice cream, gin...".
As in the other establishments, the Rincón de Chasna assures that the couple took advantage of an oversight to leave the premises: "At a certain moment, the woman enters to ask for more drinks and while the waitress puts the drinks they use a little girl to leave without paying”.
