5 perfect activities for grandparents and grandchildren in the fall

After a summer where plans such as going to the beach or the pool with the grandchildren have predominated, it is time to propose new activities more in line with autumn, its weather and the little ones' school schedules. The relationship between grandparents and grandchildren is not only a unique and special bond that both enjoy, but it is also a great help in combating the unwanted loneliness of the elderly.

Likewise, grandparents play a fundamental role in reconciling family and work life, taking care of grandchildren when their parents are at work and the children have already left school. Thus, grandparents take on tasks such as taking them to the extracurricular activities they have scheduled and even helping them with their homework.

But, in addition, that time together serves to turn it into moments of quality, of play, of fun, with which to further strengthen the relationship between grandparents and grandchildren and collect memories that both will treasure. Although in autumn the temperatures begin to cool, there is abundant rainfall and the hours of daylight decrease, this season also provides excellent opportunities for activities that children and adults will enjoy together.

In autumn, nature is dyed with the most striking colors. Take a walk through the park or through a forest where you can observe how the colors of the leaves change. To enrich the journey, you can identify the trees you pass by or try to spot and recognize birds.

Another objective that you can add to the walk is to collect dry leaves to later do some crafts with them, such as framing the leaves, using them to make drawings or painting them as you wish, giving free rein to creativity. Other ideal fall crafts are painting pine cones, or customizing pumpkins in anticipation of Halloween.

If the children are already skilled with technology, you can have a family photo contest with an autumn theme. Go out into nature and explore the landscape through the camera lens, whether it's a regular camera or a mobile phone camera. Then you can take them to reveal, something that will make them very excited.

Although this is a typical autumn activity, it is important to do it only if you have the appropriate knowledge. If you are going to collect mushrooms, you have to know which ones are edible and which ones are poisonous. For this reason, it is advisable to practice it only with older children after a prior information session, or let the little ones see the mushrooms but only the adults pick them.

Finally, a plan that never fails on rainy days is a movie session. Whether it's playing your favorite movies at home or going to the cinema to see a premiere. Afterwards, you can comment on the movie or play to recreate a scene.
