Vivienne Westwood's most iconic pieces will be auctioned for charity

Vivienne Weswood's most iconic designs will go up for auction for a good cause. A few days ago, the British house Christie's announced that next June fans of the designer's eccentric and punk style will have the opportunity to purchase some of her most legendary garments.

According to the statement, they will release more than 200 lots that will represent the most significant moments of the designer's four decades in the fashion industry. Her husband and partner, Andreas Kronthaler, has been in charge of making this selection. "It will be an unprecedented sale, something once in a lifetime," the auction house said.

The starting point of the auction will be the pieces from the autumn/winter 1983 Witches collection, partially inspired by the drawings of Keith Haring. You can also find designs from the Propaganda line, from spring/summer 2005, as well as other memorable items.

The in-person sale will take place on June 25 and there will also be an online auction for two weeks starting June 14. The profits obtained will go to the Vivienne Foundation, Doctors Without Borders or Amnesty International. "Vivienne was a fashion icon throughout her life. Her deep interest in intellectual and political ideas informed her natural skill in fashion design, where she became one of the few true auteurs. There will simply never be another Vivienne Westwood," they say from the foundation.

Likewise, coinciding with these two auctions, from June 14 to 24, Christie's will hold a free public exhibition showing Vivienne Westwood: The Personal Collection within the betting house's headquarters in the heart of London.
