The woman who prevents the euthanasia of her daughter speaks: "As long as she can take care of herself, I don't want them to take her away"

Belén is a woman from Santiago de Compostela who suffers from a terminal illness, which is why she wants to request euthanasia to end her suffering. However, she has encountered frontal opposition from her mother Carmen de ella, who considers it unnecessary to go to that extreme.

"I'm tired of being tired. I can't do anything and I want to rest, I speak badly, I can't eat alone, I can't drink alone," is the heartbreaking testimony of Belén, 54, who has been suffering from multiple sclerosis for more than three decades. . This Friday, the Telecinco program TardeAR echoed her case and spoke live with her mother.

This same week, Compostela health workers went to her house to fulfill the woman's wish to end her life, which she expressed four months ago, despite her mother's direct opposition. "I object because he is fine, he could be much worse, but right now he is normal," Carmen said.

"That I feed him, it's true; that I help him with things, it's true; but he reasons, he talks, and he's fine," he continues explaining. "I don't want to let her go, because she made a will, her last wishes, and she left in writing that the moment she needs mechanical help to live, they should take it away from her, that she doesn't want it, but as long as she does it for herself, don't let them take her," she said through tears.

Carmen believes that her daughter Belén is not in the terminal state that the doctors consider, and accuses them of lying. "They made a report with a lot of lies; it is a lie that she is bedridden, that she cannot swallow liquids and solids, that she has continuous pain and is on very strong medication and that the pain does not go away... It is a lie," he stated.

"From time to time he takes a paracetamol like anyone does," he explains to the TardeAR microphones. Regarding the possibility of her daughter's euthanasia being carried out by court order, Carmen insists: "She expressed her wish in her last will, and I think that should be respected even if now she sometimes looks worse and says those things." .
