The businesswoman and fashion designer Vicky Martín Berrocal attended the El Hormiguero program yesterday to talk about her career and present the new book she has released: Happiness has no size or age. With this publication, Berrocal wants to show an intimate, vulnerable facet and thus try to inspire many other people who are battling against her body or her personal image.
The woman from Huelva was very comfortable in the space presented by Pablo Motos and talked about many topics related to her closest environment, from the reconciliation of her ex-husband Manuel Díaz with his father El Cordobés to what it was like to grow up in a broken family.
One of the things that she spoke openly about is that for a long time she believed that she was an only child until one day, when she was already in her 20s, she discovered that she had three secret brothers.
This has an explanation. Her father, José Luis Martín Berrocal, had led a double life for many years, and the designer and her mother were ''the other family''. Vicky said that she had never judged her father, but that it had not been an easy situation: ''I never judged him. I was like 'this is what it is; my friends have other things, but this is what happened to me'”.
In addition, Berrocal shared with the viewers what it was like to find out that he had more siblings: “I was bathing in the hotel pool and I saw a boy next to me who was just like me. I thought 'this can't be if he's just like me!'. So I called the person who worked with my father taking care of him and told him that there was a child in the water who looked just like me. And she immediately pulled me out of the pool and said 'let's go!' And she is already. She didn't tell me anything else,” she explained.
After that moment, Vicky did not cross paths with her secret brother again until years later in a nightclub, which led her to have a conversation with her father, who ended up confessing that he did not have a brother, but that he had three.
The socialite acknowledged that sentimental relationships had always been a great challenge for her, since she has never lived a healthy and stable love story at home: "I don't remember an image of my father at home. I, until I was ten years old, did not have a house in which my father entered. She spent 10 years in which she came looking for her, she came looking for me, she bought me toys, she let me go and then that space of abandonment was produced. Because when he arrived, my mother would go with him. So, I stayed with my grandparents. I was not born with a father. I didn't have it. And that was painful,'' she explained,
The designer was not shy when pointing out that because of these experiences in her childhood, it is now more difficult for her to live stable love relationships and open up enough to achieve that special connection with someone.
