The peak moment of the coronation: Carlos III receives the crown and royal scepters

The coronation of a new King of England is already a fact. It had been almost 70 years since the country had witnessed a ceremony like this, and thousands of people have taken to the streets of London to experience it live. A celebration that has seen its peak this Saturday, with the enthronement of Carlos III at the hands of the Archbishop of Canterbury. A most emotional moment that officially establishes the beginning of a new reign. A new stage that began after the death of Elizabeth II on September 8, 2022.

The Archbishop of Canterbury has been commissioned to place the King on the throne with his crown and royal sceptres, and has sworn allegiance to him and his heirs. This procedure has officially established the reign of Carlos III. In addition, it has been possible to observe how William, Prince of Wales and heir to the throne, has placed his father's stole around his neck and has knelt before the new British monarch.

Once again sitting on the throne, Carlos III has received the royal orb, a symbol of royal power that represents the Christian world, divided into the three continents that were known in the Middle Ages, and the coronation ring, as well as the royal glove and the royal and spiritual sceptres, as representation of his leadership of both the kingdom and the Anglican Church.

After this procedure, the Archbishop of Canterbury addressed the people in shouts of "God save the King", to which the audience responded "God save King Charles, Long live King Charles, May the King live forever". A most emotional moment in which the monarch was already wearing his crown from his throne.

Subsequently, the coronation of the queen consort, Camila, has taken place. The monarch's wife has received the crown of Queen Mary, with 2,200 diamonds on silver. She has not been required to take an oath. "May your servant Camilla, who wears this crown, be filled with your abundant grace and with all the princely virtues; reign in her heart, O King of love, so that, sure of your protection, she may be crowned with your kind favour; for Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen," the Archbishop of Canterbury prayed.

As for the king's crown, it is a piece made of solid 22-karat gold. The 360-year-old crown measures over 12 inches (30 cm) high and weighs approximately 5 pounds (2.23 kg). After the climax, the crown has been removed from Carlos III and the Communion stage has started, where the monarchs will take Holy Communion, the main act of worship of the Christian church. Without a doubt, it has been a moment of maximum emotion in Westminster Abbey.
