The moments of Malú and Albert Rivera's relationship that seem reflected in 'Ausencia'

On the night of August 31, Malú ended the summer with a surprise for his followers in the form of a musical theme. Thus, the composer released Ausente, a new single in which she opens up like never before and sings about heartbreak; a song with lyrics in which it seems that she reveals more than many could have imagined - given the extreme discretion of the singer with her private life - about how the end of her relationship with her father was. her daughter, Albert Rivera.

Malú sings of the absence of that love, of misunderstanding, of inappropriate ways of loving and of the longing for what once was, revealing some of the most intimate moments of a sentimental relationship that could have been and was not, despite the efforts. A song that comes shortly after confirming her separation from Rivera, five years after starting their relationship.

The singer tells, with a voice charged with emotions, how she doesn't understand "why she feels so alone" when she is with that person, who has irremediably changed over time. "Whoever understands you now will be because she has also gone crazy," sings the daughter of Pepe de Lucía, who describes that other person as "a stranger who walks through my house" to whom she does not recognize or understand what is happening to him.

"You say you love me when you see the precipice," he says, perhaps alluding to all those times that he may have caught your attention trying to solve the problem; "Wrongdoing has become a vice," she laments.

"And I lifted you up, and no one knows that," Malú continues to sing, perhaps referring to when Rivera said goodbye to the world of politics and abandoned his position as leader of Ciudadanos to return to his career as a lawyer, in 2019, after 13 years dedicated to training. "It was me who endured the echo of my name everywhere," he adds, possibly referring to the intense media pressure the couple suffered at the time.

"I don't understand why I look in the mirror and I feel weird. I can't stop crying alone, this pain doesn't stop," insists Malú, who wonders where she could move to start from scratch.

The song can be a letter to heartbreak and a kind of starting point to start from scratch, but there is one thing that is clear and that is that something will never change: "No matter what happens... She goes first," he says, bluntly, alluding to their three-year-old daughter, Lucía.

Although the information indicates that the former leader of Ciudadanos could have rebuilt his life with Carla Corletti, the singer has always put her daughter above her. "I am not nor will I be the first nor the last person to separate," she declared a few weeks ago to Elle magazine.

''I really think that things have to be done well, although obviously it is much easier to start a relationship than to get out of it. But when you leave a place it is convenient to remember how you entered. And that, for sure, helps you forget why you're leaving and walk through the door with the good in your head,'' the singer said.

Days later, it was the artist's father who supported his daughter's words, stating that "we all have the right to be happy and live our lives."
