The Beckhams recount the fear they felt when receiving threats after the birth of their son Brooklyn

David and Victoria Beckham are one of the most recognized celebrity couples in the world. The couple, who has been happily married for more than two decades, boasts of having a large legion of followers on social networks. Recently, the former soccer player has released Beckham, a Netflix docuseries that allows us to learn some secrets about his life. The production has been the most talked about on social networks, and although the family tells some funny anecdotes throughout the four chapters, the truth is that the most complicated situations are also revealed, such as the threats they received after the birth of his firstborn, Brooklyn.

The birth of David and Victoria's first child was, without a doubt, one of the most special moments of their lives. However, some unpleasant episodes tarnished the couple's happiness. When Brooklyn was born, on March 4, 1999, the athlete was not going through a good professional stage. That ended up triggering the fact that the birth of the little one was also a great stress peak for David, who became a first-time father... a stress to which was added several messages with threats to his family.

At that time, just a few months earlier, the footballer had aroused the ire of his fans by receiving a red card in the 1998 World Cup match against Argentina. There were many England fans who blamed the model for the country being eliminated from the championship. It was then when the player, added to the stress he suffered due to the responsibility he felt, began to receive threats that ended up affecting his family, specifically his son Brooklyn, who is currently 24 years old. .

The former footballer is honest about this stage in his docuseries. "The arrival of my first child was the most incredible thing in the world, but I quickly thought: 'How am I going to be able to protect him? What am I going to do to protect him?'" says David. "That night Brooklyn slept next to Victoria in the hospital bed and she told me: 'come and press against us' and I said: 'No way, I will sleep with my head holding the door' because I was paranoid that someone I was going to steal it," he said.

Unfortunately, those "paranoias" became something real. The couple then began to receive threats of kidnapping, something that, as it could be for any parent, was very hard for them. To these threats were added a series of rude chants by soccer fans that were directed directly at Victoria and her son. "We received kidnapping threats since Brooklyn was born... and I can't even explain what it feels like because we couldn't hide," Victoria admitted in the documentary.

Despite their efforts to put that stage aside, they still remember very well how they felt. "These are all things that come back to me and I find them very stressful, because I have blocked a lot of them from my mind, and so has David," the former Spice Girl revealed. "But now they come back to me. Imagine having a baby and receiving death threats. David had to play, knowing all this was happening. I was alone, in an apartment with a baby. So I had no choice but to go to the matches with Brooklyn. The abuse to which we were subjected is difficult to explain," said Victoria, revealing one of the most tense moments of her life.
