Spring tune-up: this is how to thoroughly clean the ceilings and walls of the house

Months and even years can go by without the ceilings and walls of a house having received a proper cleaning, the great forgotten ones. However, as you can imagine, the accumulation of dust and dirt on their surfaces makes them just as important to sanitize as any other corner. The ceilings and walls represent one of those parts of the house that you need to clean as soon as possible. It may seem like a particularly tedious and uncomfortable task, but with a series of tips it won't be that bad.

It is not necessary to dedicate such exhaustive or frequent cleaning maintenance to them as to other elements of the home, for example, doors or windows. But it is also essential to get rid of microbes and dirt that gradually adheres to ceilings and walls. So it can be said that the house is completely spotless.

The first thing to take into account is the type of wall in question, that is, if it is painted, if it is papered or if it is tiled, these being some of the cases that can be found most easily in most homes.

In the case of ceilings and walls with paint, the first step will consist of removing the layer of dust that has formed on its surface over time. For this, you will have to use a broom with the brush covered by a clean and dry cloth. However, in the event that the paint is washable, you can use a sponge with water and a cleaning product for areas where there are stains.

On the other hand, papered walls require special care, especially if they are not waterproof. To clean them, you will also have to resort to a dry cloth that removes the superficial layer of dirt. If there are stains, a trick to make them disappear is to place an absorbent paper on it and pass the iron. The stain should transfer and disappear from the wallpaper.

For tiled walls, cleaning will be easier when choosing appropriate products. However, they have a drawback and that is that, being normally located in the bathroom, they can present fungi. To get rid of them you will need to apply a cloth with water and a disinfectant, for example, bleach.

And if it is about ceilings and exterior walls, cleaning will need more specific products and will have to be more thorough. But it will be key to know what kind of resistance the materials on its surface have to opt for one or the other. An easy and simple way to do it is with pressurized water, cleaning will be fast and effective.
