Soraya Arnelas, on the reason that led her to abort: "If something goes wrong, it must be stopped"

Last January, Soraya Arnelas was facing one of the hardest moments of her life: the loss of what was going to be her third child. The singer herself communicated the sad news about her through her social networks and talked about how difficult it was for her entire family.

Time, however, has managed to mitigate the pain a little. The singer and her husband have managed to handle the process naturally, and a few months later, they feel strong enough to talk about the situation. It was in the program Human Animals, where the artist, in addition to revealing that the baby she was expecting was a boy, she confesses that she had to interrupt her pregnancy because the baby was "sick."

It all started in a routine appointment, after three months of pregnancy, when the specialists realized that something was not right. In one of the main tests performed during pregnancy, at 12 weeks, they try to detect possible anomalies in the future baby.

"It was the most important, in which the focus of attention is placed on everything that happens to the baby in general," explains the singer to the influencer Ibai Vegan, confessing that it was at that moment that they realized that, unfortunately, something was happening.

"If after twelve weeks something goes wrong and there is no solution, it must be stopped," he continued, explaining that this was his case. "The baby was sick and was not compatible with life."

Soraya also remembered that, upon arriving at the consultation, she arrived very excited with the hope of finding out the sex of her baby and, on the contrary, she received the terrible news of discovering that she would not be a mother for the third time.

"Did you come alone?" she remembers the doctor asking her. It was then that the singer's husband, Miguel Ángel Herrera, came in, accompanied by her eldest daughter, Manuela. Then, the gynecologist told them the horrible news: the pregnancy was not viable and "it had to be stopped."

After the setback suffered, the family is more united than ever and they appreciate all the good that 2024 is also bringing them, which, according to the woman from Extremadura, is being one of "the best years" of her entire life. On whether she thinks about expanding the family, she is cautious. As she confessed to El Mundo, she doesn't know if she will try again. "I would love to, but I can't think about it right now."

On Friday, April 19, the Extremadura native also releases Alas, the song she wrote in tribute to the baby she was expecting. A deep song, composed from the soul and that became, as she herself confessed, "the most difficult song to sing" in her 18-year career. "A sea of tears, but it will be worth it," declared the artist.

A song with which Soraya expresses the need to close this painful chapter of her life, sharing her experience with others in the same situation. "I sincerely hope that this topic can help many families and the little astronauts who have flown to other planets."
