Sandra Sabater explodes at the behavior of the public in O Son do Camiño: "It is quite rude"

The musical festival O Son Do Camiño filled Santiago de Compostela with different musical styles this past weekend. With close to 42,000 attendees per day, the event has finished consolidating itself as one of the most important of the year in Galicia. However, not everyone left Monte do Gozo satisfied. Several artists had complaints directed directly at the public, and one of the most vocal was that of Sandra Sabater.

The guitarist of the rock band Ginebras released a statement on her Twitter profile openly criticizing the behavior of some attendees at her concert. In particular, she alleges campouts waiting for headliners and a dismissive attitude towards her own person and other guildmates. Sabater considered these actions annoying and disrespectful, as well as reproaching the forms and a general lack of education.

It should be noted that O Son Do Camiño offered a considerable variety of musical styles this year. Among the most striking names called to act were Bizarrap, Alt-J, Leiva, Maluma, Aitana and Royal Blood. Important names on the scene but who don't necessarily share melodies with artists like Vetusta Morla, Niña Polaca or Kaiser Chiefs. This led the public to focus solely and exclusively on the artists they wanted to see yes or yes, completely ignoring the rest.

This resulted in large groups of people reserving seats in the front row but turning their backs to the stage, yawning, long faces and even swearing. The insults of several children to Pucho, singer of Vetsuta Morla, stand out for "extending his concert on purpose and not letting Aitana perform." All with the consent, approval and congratulations of the parents. These lousy attitudes were also repeated at the Ginebras concert, for which Sandra Sabater had to step out.

In her statement, the guitarist explained the behavior of these attendees down to the last detail: “At several concerts (including ours), the first rows were packed with groups sitting on the floor, reserving space to see an artist who was performing later. Some were on their feet, ass-faced, yawning and even hesitating." Her criticism indicated that the fans who had come to see these performances were sabotaged by such attitudes.

“Those people did not let those who were there to listen to us enjoy the concert. Not necessarily fans, also curious. It's annoying, it's disrespectful and it's pretty rude. We do not intend to please everyone, but it is as simple as leaving room for those who do want to listen to us and stepping back a little”, explained the member of Ginebras. Even with these difficulties, Sabater appreciated the opportunity to participate in the organization of the festival.
