Rolling Stone Awards in Spanish: these are the most outstanding nominees and categories

On October 26, the first Rolling Stone Awards ceremony in Spanish will be held in Miami. The Spanish-speaking version of the popular music magazine announced the launch of this initiative at the beginning of August, highlighting the historic moment that the Hispanic community is currently experiencing. Some awards for which categories and nominees are already known in music, film and television.

The magazine published the complete list on its website and social networks, announcing a list that includes eleven awards and a long list of nominees. In global numbers, Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny leads the nominations with a total of six, including several doubles; but he also highlights the representation of Spain in some nominations.

Rosalía's five nominations stand out, the second that she amasses the most behind Bad Bunny. The singer from Sant Esteve Sesrovires fills the lists for Album of the Year with Motomami, Song with Despechá, Music Video with Saoko, Artist and Producer. It also highlights the presence of another Catalan artist, Aitana Ocaña, who is nominated in the Promise of the Year category, along with other names such as Omar Montes and Villano Antillano.

As we mentioned earlier, Bad Bunny has up to two nominations in the categories of Best Song (La Jumpa, Tití asked me) and Best Video (Ojitos Lindos, Where She Goes), but he is not the only known name among the candidates.

Shakira is also a candidate thanks to Monotonía, in addition to occupying a position as a candidate for the category of Best Artist. One of the most striking in the nomination of Vetusta Morla from Madrid, who have won a place on the Best Album list with Bailando hasta el apagón.

Other recognized artists in the Spanish-speaking scene and present on this list are, for example, Bizarrap. The Argentine producer went viral thanks to his collaborations with Quevedo, Shakira and other big names on the Latin scene, thanks to which he amassed up to three nominations (Song, Artist, Producer). Other prominent names with various nominations span disparate genres, from Jorge Drexler to Karol G, Ozuna or Romeo Santos.

The biggest surprise is found in the film and television categories, where up to four Spanish productions have won multiple outstanding nominations. Alcarràs, As Bestas, Cerdita and Official Competition are nominated for Best Film.

Similarly noteworthy are the candidacies, among others, of Carla Simón and Rodrygo Sorogoyen and the duo of Gastón Duprat and Mariano Cohn for Best Director; or those of Laia Costa (Cinco lobitos), Penélope Cruz, Marina Foïs and Laura Galán in Best Performance.

The documentary aspect has not gone unnoticed by the team in charge of making the nominations either. El sostre groc, by Isabel Coixet; and Feeling it a lot, by Fernando León de Aranoa, are nominated for Documentary Film of the Year. On the other hand, the fictions Nacho and Hasta el cielo also maintain the chances of winning the Series of the Year award.
