Key clue: the cameras captured Daniel Sancho and Edwin Arrieta together on a motorcycle through Thailand

Thai police have reported that Spanish Daniel Sancho, son of renowned actor Rodolfo Sancho, is under investigation for the murder of Colombian surgeon Edwin Arrieta Arteaga on the island of Koh Phangan, in southern Thailand.

The 29-year-old allegedly involved has been interrogated since Friday and, according to police reports, he would have confessed to the crime. Sancho would have revealed that he murdered and dismembered 44-year-old Arteaga, driven by jealousy and fear of possible betrayal.

Thai authorities have presented a robust body of evidence against Daniel Sancho, centering their case on the strength of the video surveillance footage. In these, Sancho is clearly seen in various local stores, acquiring objects of particular interest for the investigation: knives of different sizes and a saw.

The recordings, according to the investigators, are crucial since the purchased tools could have been used to carry out the murder and dismemberment of Arrieta Arteaga. Police are conducting forensic analysis to determine if these utensils match the wounds and marks found on the victim's body.

In addition to the security images, the authorities have also mentioned that the cameras also captured them together on a motorcycle, that Sancho would have changed hotels in a rather suspicious move and would have been the last to see the surgeon alive.

The force of this evidence is reinforced by Sancho's confession. Despite its apparent strength, however, authorities have been cautious, emphasizing that the investigation is ongoing.

At the moment, Sancho is being held at the Koh Phangan police station. He is expected to be transferred to the neighboring island of Samui on Monday, where he will appear before a judge. At this hearing, the evidence presented by the police will be reviewed and it will be decided whether to proceed with the formal accusation of the suspect.
