How to clean the freezer and eliminate its bad smell

The freezer has the great virtue of keeping food in good condition for several months. This way you can store your leftovers, have resources for when you don't have time to go shopping, have ice to cool drinks and ice cream to alleviate the summer heat.

However, it is an appliance that is very prone to developing a bad smell, which not only greets you when you open its door, but is transferred to your food, making it less tasty. The bad smell of the freezer occurs when it drops below -18ºC, at which time the bacteria take advantage of it to proliferate freely. It can also be caused by spills of drinks or food that are not packaged in airtight containers, as well as ice and dirt buildup in the freezer.

The ideal is to carry out a thorough cleaning of the freezer at least twice a year. But if you detect a bad smell in the appliance or the food that you store in it, it is best to clean it as soon as possible to remedy it and make it look like new.
