How to carry your cosmetics in the airplane cabin

Summer is just around the corner and that means vacations. If you have planned a plane trip this summer season, or perhaps you have to take a flight for work reasons, luggage is a matter to which you spend time to raise it correctly.

Especially when it comes to cosmetics. If you carry a checked bag in the hold of the plane you can take as many products as you want and the size you consider. However, things get complicated when we talk about a carry-on suitcase that will travel with you in the cabin of the plane. You have to know how you should pack the liquid formats to avoid problems at airport security controls.

Each passenger can carry liquid cosmetic products with a maximum capacity of 100 milliliters in their hand luggage. This appeals to the capacity of the boat itself, not just its contents. In other words, you cannot carry a 200-milliliter bottle even if it only has 100 milliliters of product inside.

In addition to respecting the maximum of 100 milliliters for each liquid cosmetic, the sum of all of them cannot exceed one liter. All containers must go in a single transparent bag or self-closing bag (zip or zipper), with maximum measurements of 20 x 20 centimeters. Also, this toiletry bag must be presented at security control separately, so leave it accessible when you pack your belongings.

Within this maxim, you can directly buy the small sizes of the specific travel cosmetics themselves or empty bottles that are sold to fill them at home.

The 100 milliliter standard applies to all those products in liquid format, both for facial and body care and makeup. That is, gels, shampoos, deodorants, creams, perfume... Keep this in mind, because you will be able to carry more cosmetics if you switch to non-liquid formulas. For example, replace your micellar water with makeup remover wipes or compact powder instead of liquid foundation.

Another rule that you must respect is that none of these products is flammable. You will know because on the back of the container you will see a rhombus with some flames. Sprays and aerosols are generally flammable. Nor can you carry sharp objects such as scissors, nail clippers or tweezers in the toiletry bag. Finally, as for the liquid for contact lenses, this can be more than 100 milliliters. But it should always go in its original bottle, never in another container.

If you usually do a facial, hair and body care routine full of products, it is best to simplify it on your trip by taking only the essentials. You'll save space, stick to regulations, and avoid the upset of your favorite serum ending up in the airport trash.
