Giancarlo Esposito claims that he planned his own murder before the success of 'Breaking Bad' for this reason

Giancarlo Esposito began his professional career in 1966, when Broadway opened its doors for him to play a small role in a musical. After this, came other roles in series and films such as Maximum Overdrive or Malcolm

The actor played Gustavo Fring in the successful series, being one of the protagonists until the last episode, and in its subsequent spin-off, Better Call Saul. And it has not been until now when he has confessed that he planned his own murder before he found this great opportunity because of the financial problems he was going through.

Giancarlo Esposito went to the Jim and Sam Show on SiriusXM and did not hesitate to address one of the worst stages of his life. "In my head, my escape route was, 'Hey, does anyone get life insurance money if you kill yourself? Do they keep the money?' My wife had no idea why I was asking that kind of thing. .. I started plotting," he said.

And, before getting a position in the successful series, his family was going through a very bad economic time, almost ruined. "I began to hatch a plan. If someone killed me, an unfortunate death, they would receive the money," she continued, stating that this way his children could have a future.

"It was a very difficult time. I really thought about self-annihilation for them to survive. That's how depressed I was," the 65-year-old actor continued. This was the first time he saw an escape route to find a better life, at least for his family. But shortly afterward he became clear that this plan could not be carried out due to the trauma it would have created for his loved ones.

"I started to think that that wasn't viable because of the pain it would cause them, and that it would be a lifelong trauma, and a lifelong trauma that would just extend the generational trauma that I'm trying to get away from," he said.

And, without a doubt, his life took a complete turn when he landed the role of Gustavo Fring in the renowned fiction. An opportunity that not only saved his life and that of his family, but also earned him three Emmy nominations. After this, in 2013 he was also able to participate in popular series such as Godfather of Harlem, The Boys or Parish.

The Mandalorian and the horror film Abigail have been his most important projects in recent years. A successful career that he enjoys with his family. Giancarlo Esposito was married to Joy McManigal from 1995 to 2015, but he was able to bring his great loves into the world, his four children: Shayne, Ruby, Kale and Syrlucia.
