Food at home and exercise: this is the day to day of Daniel Sancho in prison

Several weeks after the news broke, the murder of the Colombian surgeon Edwin Arrieta continues to leave details and information dripping. In particular, regarding the accused of the crime: Daniel Sancho. Since last August 7, the Spanish chef has been locked up in the Koh Samui prison, more than 750 kilometers from Bangkok, the capital of Thailand. Two weeks detailed by the prison team.

The prison director, Watcharapong Boonsaior, was interviewed this Monday morning by Espejo Público, the morning magazine of Antena 3, regarding Sancho's current situation and his day-to-day behind bars. A routine that, according to his words, has not changed much after he was transferred to the nursing section to meet the established medical requirements. Despite this, striking talking points have emerged from his statements.

Sancho arrived at the Koh Samui prison two weeks ago to stay temporarily in the medical wing. For ten days he was complying with the isolation protocols related to covid-19, established during the pandemic period. Once the time had expired, he could return to the bulk of the inmates, but those in charge of the center preferred to keep him in the infirmary, particularly for his own safety.

The person in charge of the prison commented that there were no changes of location due to the possibility that he would harm himself and the medication that was being administered to him: "He started taking the medicine before coming here and at the police station they followed him giving. The medication he takes is for stress and he's coming from another island. His body is strong, he trains in the afternoons, for now he can take them. Our doctors will give him whatever he needs."

In the same way, he also assured that Sancho consumed other types of "vitamins" to endure life in prison calmly. A routine that he recounted for the viewers of the Atresmedia program: “He gets up like everyone else at 6 in the morning, washes up and then at 7 o'clock they start having breakfast. At 8 they have to be in line for the count. And after checking that everyone is there and OK, everyone does what they want and looks for their homework, some do yoga or play soccer…”.

“Daniel is doing light exercise. He is maintaining his physique, he does sit-ups and some yoga, ”added the director, in addition to revealing some curious statements from the program's collaborators. According to what they said, Sancho was also able to order “food at home”, thanks in particular to other members of the prison team and money from his family.
