The launch of the third satellite mission of the Generalitat has been postponed for the second time this Friday due to weather conditions. The contracted company, Space X, plans to finally do it this Saturday at 8:47 a.m. (peninsular time).

Sources from the Ministry of Business and Labor have assured that this type of postponement is normal because the rocket that will transport the Catalan nanosatellite needs specific weather conditions.

For this reason, the Generalitat has already warned that the forecast for the launch rocket, the Falcon 9 of the North American company SpaceX, to take off on Saturday depends on the conditions of the day.

The 'Minairó' nanosatellite will depart from the Vandenberg space base in California and will orbit around 550 kilometers from Earth, passing over Catalonia approximately every five days.

The mission is led by the Generalitat and managed by the i2CAT Foundation. The objective is to demonstrate use cases of the new 5G NB-IoT connectivity protocol from the satellite and deploy a laboratory in orbit to validate technologies and services developed in Catalonia.

The 'Minairó' is the third mission of the Generalitat's NewSpace Strategy, which has already launched into space the 'Enxaneta' mission, also dedicated to IoT communications, and 'Menut', for Earth observation.

The launch of 'Minairó', the third nanosatellite of 'Catalan NASA', will take place this Saturday, March 25, starting at 08:47.
