Degrease your extractor hood effortlessly with this great trick

Kitchens are rooms for daily use that, due to the service they provide, are also the most difficult to keep clean. We have assimilated some tasks, such as setting and clearing the table or washing the pots after eating. But we tend to postpone others that are as tedious as they are necessary. We are talking about cleaning the extractor hood, an element of the kitchen that, depending on the use you make of your ceramic hob or gas stove, becomes a source of accumulation of grease, dust and bad odors.

The attention we pay to the hoods is inversely proportional to the dirt that becomes embedded in them. Whether due to its difficult accessibility or because the task of cleaning it is quite cumbersome, the longer we wait for a thorough intervention to pass, the more difficult it will be to remove the accumulated grease. Optimal cleaning of this appliance is essential for it to function correctly and extend its useful life, in addition to guaranteeing minimum health conditions in your kitchen.

To clean your hood, first of all, you need a grease remover that is respectful of stainless steel or any other material it is made from. This product is to the hood what the cleaning cream is to the ceramic hob, as its use helps to eradicate the vapors produced when cooking. Goodbye to the smell of frying!

It is not enough to just clean the outside of the hood. It is advisable to dismantle the filters and remove the dust accumulated next to the steam if necessary. Next, apply the grease remover product to the inside and outside of the hood and let it act for a few minutes (you can let the filters drain in the sink). Then, remove the excess product with a cloth and repeat these steps if the dirt persists.

Luckily for us, there is a trick that will make things easier for us when removing grease from the extractor hood, especially if it has been a while since we have carried out a thorough cleaning. With this method, your hood will be shiny on the outside and, above all, on the inside. You only need a little baking soda, the watchword of so many home remedies that have helped us when cleaning the house.

Put a pot on the fire with water and baking soda. When it starts to boil, turn on the extractor so that the steam from this mixture reaches the most inaccessible corners of your hood. Baking soda has a degreasing function, which will remove the embedded grease, which will fall in the form of drops. Leave the pot on the heat for an hour and add water and baking soda to the mixture as it is consumed. Don't forget to give the vitro a once-over as soon as you finish.
