Criticism of Cuatro for the inappropriate advertising curtain while they were talking about Álvaro Prieto

The television coverage of the death of Álvaro Prieto is being one of the most controversial in recent years in cases of this nature. Since a team from Mañaneros recorded the discovery of the body live last Monday, the media has been cautious in dealing with the information coming from Seville. However, a new and unfortunate coincidence has once again put a chain in the spotlight.

This is Cuatro, from the Mediaset group. It happened last Tuesday night, during the broadcast of the investigative program Code 10. The program hosted by Nacho Abad and David Alemán covered the death of the Córdoban soccer player, according to the first reports, electrocuted after touching the pantograph of a train, the extension that connects to the electrified catenary. The nature of the death caused one of the advertising cuts to give way to a less than adequate curtain.

For several years, the segments to announce breaks show an anthropomorphic version of the Cuatro logo, performing various actions. This one in particular showed him trying to connect the cables of an illuminated sign. However, he suffered an electric shock while the lights announced the return of the program in 50 seconds. A sad coincidence, the result of the channel's continuity system, which has not gone unnoticed on social networks.

“The timing is terrifying but it is true that those curtains are programmed much earlier. It was impossible to know that it was going to coincide with that topic,” indicated one user. “I still remember when the volcano thing happened on La Palma, what a coincidence that the movies that aired in the afternoon were about volcanoes and other natural disasters. Either I am poorly thought out or they already do it on purpose,” stated another response.

The situation caused thousands of messages on social networks, commenting on the play and discussing whether it was possible to have modified it before broadcasting said program. However, a second example appeared in La Sexta: the advertisement for a hair clinic with a witness named Álvaro, after a piece about the victim in the news. The user's reference was in relation to the discovery of the body, without hair and with a burned hand after the electrocution.

And the Seville police already have a line of investigation to explain the accident. The security camera of a gas station recorded Álvaro Prieto jumping over a fence in the workshop area of Sevilla Santa Justa, crossing the tracks and climbing onto the roof of the damaged train, with the ultimate goal of sneaking into another convoy. When touching the pantograph, the young man suffered a shock of between 600 volts and 3 kilovolts of direct current, lethal figures for a human being.
