Those who remember the adaptation of Mr Ripley's Talent that Anthony Minghella released in 1999 with Matt Damon as the shady man of the title, will be able to recognize the characters: Dakota Fanning (The Alienist) is Marge, the role played by Gwyneth Paltrow in the film , Johnny Flynn (The Lovers) is Dickie, the man immortalized by an Oscar-nominated Jude Law, and also features John Malkovich.
And who is behind this new version of Ripley? A key name in Hollywood, Steven Zaillan, who has an Oscar for the screenplay of Steven Spielberg's Schindler's List and who has also written films by Martin Scorsese such as Gangs of New York and The Irishman, by Ridley Scott such as American Gangster and Exodus : Gods and Kings, or the series The Night of, for which he won the Emmy as both a writer, director and producer.
