Television presenters, especially those with more seniority, are well aware of how unpredictable a live broadcast can be. One of those who knows it best is, without a doubt, Ramón García. The man from Bilbao has had to deal with all kinds of situations over the last few years, in which he has uninterruptedly hosted the magazine En compañía, on the Castilian-La Mancha regional television channel CMM.
Given the nature of the format, Ramontxu speaks to different viewers live every day, through a telephone connection. And, although everything usually goes smoothly, there are also times when the person on the other end of the phone puts the presenter in trouble, as has happened again in recent days.
Ramón García and Gloria Santoro, hosts of En compañía, were preparing to connect with a spectator named María Soledad when everything quickly went wrong. "Shut up, cagueta!" The woman initially exclaimed and then charged at the presenter himself. "I've already turned on the TV but Ramón has already finished, which is half a sissy," she said, causing laughter from the entire audience.
"Has he said that I'm half a sissy?" Garcia wondered incredulously. His partner crossed herself before the camera and both tried to redirect the situation. "Ma'am, we are doing the program live and we are calling you now," Ramón replied to her without success, since the viewer continued with her disqualifications: "That is why he has separated from the woman, the half-caguetorro," he assured. "Where have we called, my God?" Ramontxu wondered again.
Far from giving up on her behavior, María Soledad has also charged against Gloria: "What do you want, chochona?", she replied while trying to speak to her calmly. "Slutty, slutty, you're a slutty!" She insisted, when she verified that the presenter had not fully understood the insult that she had uttered to him. The woman has ended up hanging up the phone.
Minutes later, and aware that the moment was going to monopolize the different "zapping programs", Ramón and Gloria have asked to include their subsequent explanations for what happened to the viewer. "We send her a very strong kiss and I understand in this call that this lady is not feeling well; therefore, we neither laugh nor disrespect her," Santoro publicly requested, asking for applause for the woman.
