The Provincial Council of Barcelona once again awards the Reempresa program of the TecnoCampus and the Mataró City Council

The Reempresa program jointly developed by the TecnoCampus and the Mataró City Council has once again been recognized by the Provincial Council of Barcelona as one of the most active in the province. Reempresa is an initiative of the employers' association Cecot with the support of the Provincial Council that facilitates the transfer or transfer of active businesses to new entrepreneurs.

The councilor for a prosperous city, generation of wealth and decent work and second deputy mayor of the Mataró City Council, Sergi Morales was in charge of collecting this award in an event that took place within the framework of the hall dedicated to Biz Barcelona entrepreneurship.

It is the seventh consecutive year that TecnoCampus and the Mataró City Council have received this award. As assessed by the manager of business growth projects at TecnoCampus, Carme Navas, this continued recognition shows “that we have great conviction in our commitment to entrepreneurship, but also to maintaining consolidated businesses that work and preventing jobs from being destroyed. if companies are closed” and confirms the good results of this bet made by TecnoCampus and the Mataró City Council.

The Reempresa program offers people who want to sell their business, free of charge, individual advice for the preparation of the transfer plan, as well as support throughout the process of transferring the company: from the first meeting to present the parties until the signing of the purchase and sale contract, going through the negotiation and mediation phases to reach an agreement.

People who have the project of resuming a company or business that is already in operation are offered a portfolio of businesses in transmission and are helped to carry out the viability or Re-enterprise plan of the business that interests them.

During the 10 years of the Reempresa Program, between 2012 and 2022, the Reempresa center at the TecnoCampus has reached 117 cases of successful “reempresa” that have generated an induced investment of €5,204,226 and have safeguarded 335 jobs.

To date, the office has advised 362 businesses whose owners wanted to transfer it to an entrepreneur and 497 "re-entrepreneurs" or people interested in acquiring a business. The objective of the program is to promote and structure the transfer of companies as a way to grow economic activity, thus avoiding the closure of economically viable businesses and the destruction of employment in the municipalities of the region.

In this sense, Navas explains that the program aims to “take advantage of the work that someone has already done” to facilitate new entrepreneurs who want to open a business. “Providing continuity to a company that already has a reputation, permits and a client portfolio is not the same as starting from scratch,” he points out.

Furthermore, it is also a satisfactory process for the owners of the businesses that are transferred, as they see that the effort they have made for years can have continuity in the hands of other entrepreneurs. This is especially important for entrepreneurs who want to retire and do not have children who want to take over the business. “For them it can be very hard to simply close the blinds,” says Navas, who highlights that with the Reempresa program many of these businesses can continue.

In fact, the most common reason for transferring a business is precisely retirement. According to data from the Provincial Council, among the businesses that are most commonly transferred are shops (33%) and restaurants (32%), while services represent 27% of companies and industry, 7%.
