Reducing the CO2 footprint to be more sustainable: it is one of the objectives of the large music events industry. This 2024, this sector plan will accelerate thanks to the strategic agreement that the six most important music promoters in Spain (Advanced Music, Bring the Noise, Centris, elrow, The Music Republic and Sharemusic!) have signed with Repsol to jointly promote multi-energy solutions that help reduce the carbon footprint. For now, this sponsorship will be carried out in 77 events held on the peninsula, some of them as relevant as the FIB, Sónar Lisboa, Arenal Sound or O son de Camiño, which bring together more than a million people each year. people. The agreement has already materialized, for example, in the Sonar Lisboa, where 1,497 liters of renewable fuel were used to replace conventional fuel.

Through this alliance, Repsol will offer different energy solutions to developers who will adopt one or more energies according to their needs. 100% renewable fuels will power the generating sets, sound installations, lighting or dressing rooms, among others; In addition, charging points for electric vehicles will be provided; Solar cubes will be installed to charge mobile devices and cooking oil used in food trucks will be collected to make renewable fuel, which promotes the circular economy and self-consumption. These solutions are intended to save the carbon footprint: 200,000 liters of 100% renewable fuel avoids the emission of 556 tons of carbon dioxide, representing a 90% reduction in net CO2 emissions.

For the promoters, “Repsol will be a strategic ally and the collaboration represents a significant boost to the efforts already initiated by the music industry to adopt practices that allow us to reduce our carbon footprint.” For Repsol, this agreement joins others already carried out in the field of culture, such as those developed in the last edition of the Goya Awards, the San Sebastián International Film Festival or the Malaga Festival, among others. The multi-energy company is aware that music, culture, cinema and gastronomy are sectors that are increasingly demanding with the sustainability they demonstrate to their customers. “Our commitment is to offer our clients and partners, such as the festivals with which we partner today, all the energy solutions currently possible to reduce CO2 emissions,” highlighted Valero Marín, Repsol's General Customer Director, at the event. presentation of the agreement, which took place at Campus Repsol.
