The lightest electric bike in the world warns you if someone tries to steal it

As in the automotive industry, it is not very common to find urban bicycles made of carbon fiber, an extremely light and durable material, reserved above all for premium products or for cycling professionals. Also, an electric city bike at a cheap price is also strange. But there are signs that the market is shifting towards more affordable products for all audiences designed with high-end materials.

Along these lines, the Ado company has announced the latest evolution of its well-known urban line Air, which was launched on the market just two years ago and has already earned international prestige. Dubbed Air Carbon, it is the most sophisticated version of the line, and it blends in with its sisters for its characteristic folding frame in 15 seconds, as well as the same silhouette, the Gates Carbon Drive system and the same ease of use.

What's new about the Air Carbon is that both the frame and fork are made of carbon fiber, making it the lightest electric city bike in the world at only 12.5 kg. The motor is Bafang, developed as part of a new collaboration with Ado. It only has one speed to save even more weight, but it has enough strength (delivering 35 Nm of maximum torque) to ensure smooth and effortless driving in all city circumstances.

The battery is integrated into the seat post and, according to the brand, will offer a range of about 100 km on a single charge. With the first Air A20 electric bike, Ado introduced a Samsung cell battery with a similar range and expectations were met.

The Air Carbon incorporates an anti-theft function that integrates a Smart Connect module into the bicycle. This performs GPS tracking of the bike, so you can know where it is at all times simply by consulting the application. You will also receive notifications on your mobile if the bike moves or falls while parked.

While not an unknown feature in the urban e-bike market, the combination of Ado's patented folding carbon fiber frame and anti-theft feature makes the Air Carbon one of the most notable urban e-bikes on the market.

"The Air Carbon is designed to meet the highest standards of urban travel, providing a combination of style, performance and convenience that caters to both daily commuters and occasional passengers," the manufacturer says.

There is no exact date for the start of delivery of the first units of the Ado Air Carbon, but it is expected to be around this coming summer. In the meantime, you can get to know the bike better by taking a look at the video that accompanies this article.
