The Champs-Elysées as you've never seen it before

Paris is making a serious commitment to sustainable mobility in its city. Despite having a huge volume of people, this does not prevent small actions from being carried out that, added together, are beginning to improve the quality of life of Parisians.

Many spaces near the Seine have already been pedestrianized to reduce the use of cars in this axis of the metropolis, but things do not stop there. Seven years ago a decision was made that affected mobility on the Champs-Élysées and now the real effects of that decision are being seen.

On the first Sunday of each month, the entire avenue des Champs-Élysées is closed to motorized traffic to make way for pedestrians and cyclists. This measure, which raised some doubts during its application in 2016, has shown that it is possible to give space to people to the detriment of cars and not collapse.

Only once a month is it possible to enjoy a walk spanning the entire width of the Champs Elysos, but the resounding success of this initiative has guided Paris towards a more sustainable present. On foot or by bicycle is always better.
